Dental veneers: near you or abroad?
Getting dental veneers abroad is becoming more and more common. The price of veneers is about 60% cheaper there than in France, for example. But why is the price of dental veneers so cheap abroad? This price difference is in no way due to the quality of the treatments offered, but is the result of simple economic logic. Turkey, for example, is a very popular and particularly affordable destination due to a much lower cost of living than in France and a larger number of medical personnel.
Qunomedical works exclusively with dentists rigorously selected for their high quality medical care. Our main selection criteria are the dentists’ years of experience, the number of operations performed and the quality of their academic and professional training.
How is the placement of dental veneers performed?
The placement of dental veneers involves several distinct steps. If you are getting your veneers done at the dentist near you, the entire process may take a few weeks, depending on the facilities your dental practice has.
However, if you choose to travel abroad for your dental veneers, the treatment can be completed within 7 to 8 days. The length of your stay abroad may vary depending on where the veneers are manufactured: either the dental clinic produces them itself, or it uses an external dental laboratory for their manufacture.
The dental consultation
First, you will need to send your dentist photographs of your teeth as well as a panoramic X-ray so that he can ensure that your teeth are suitable for dental veneers. Once your eligibility has been established, you will be able to participate in an initial consultation with your dentist. He will do a complete examination of your teeth, look for any signs of pathology or decay and will be able to decide if dental veneers are the right treatment for you. Your dentist may advise you not to have dental veneers if your teeth are in too bad a state, due to periodontal disease, for example, or if you suffer from teeth grinding. If your teeth are healthy and you are only prone to aesthetic problems,
During the consultation, the dentist will discuss with you to find out your expectations regarding the shape and color of your dental veneers. By taking into account the characteristics of the veneers (translucency, shine and color), your dentist will offer you his professional expertise and will tell you which veneer model could suit your smile.
Whether you choose to travel abroad or have your dental veneers installed close to home, Qunomedical helps you choose the right dentist for you and make the right decision for your health.
Preparing your teeth
In the next step, the dentist will use precision tools to remove a thin outer layer of enamel from the teeth to be treated. This phase of the treatment can be carried out the same day of your consultation if you have opted for a stay abroad, or during a second appointment if you have decided to be treated near your home.
Local anesthesia will be administered to reduce pain during the procedure. The width and depth of the removed enamel layer will approximately match the dimensions of the dental veneer that will be fixed.
Once your teeth have been prepared, the dentist will make a cast in order to proceed with the fabrication of the veneers which will be specially produced to measure, to perfectly match your teeth.
The mold will then be sent to the dental laboratory of the clinic or to an external laboratory if one does not exist within the establishment. The lab will use the mold to produce exact replicas of the damaged teeth. Ceramic (porcelain or laminate based) is the type of material most often used to make veneers. However, dental veneers can also be made from composite resin.
If you have chosen to have dental veneers in France, the production time can take 2 to 4 weeks. If you opt for treatment abroad, your veneers can be manufactured in just a few days. Temporary veneers will be provided to you while waiting for the fabrication of your permanent veneers.
Concerning the dental veneers with direct pose, they are created directly on the tooth the day of the treatment by means of a composite resin.
Laying dental veneers
Once the permanent veneers are ready, they can finally be placed. The veneers can possibly be slightly re-cut in order to better adjust to the teeth. Next, the tooth should be prepared for attachment. The dentist will polish the tooth, then etch it to create good bonding conditions for the dental cement and for the veneer. Anesthesia is usually not required during this part of the treatment.
After that, the dental cement is applied to the tooth and the dental veneer is placed. The dentist will use a special focal light to “activate” the cement and firmly attach the veneer to the tooth. This process only takes a few minutes. Finally, any excess dental cement will be removed to give the veneer a perfect, natural-looking finish.
